December 2 - Katie´s Blog
Hi, Well Christmas is here again and I got in the full swing of things by putting up my tree last weekend. It's the second year that I've got a real one and I love the whole process of getting the saw out and chopping half an inch off it, which sounds easier than it is especially when your saw is from 1855!
It feels quite strange to still be out in Europe on promo and not be doing any gigs. I do however have a very special gig next week. It's a small acoustic set at a charity event called AfricArt, organized by ASAP, a new charity raising funds and awareness for an orphanage in South Africa, which I'm very proud to be involved with. If you want to find out more about the event or the charity, visit their website:
www.asapcharity.org

I went to two wicked gigs last week when I had a couple days off in London. MGMT on Friday at Shepherd's Bush and Nick Cave on Saturday. I was blown away by MGMT, their songs make me so happy and you just have to dance when you hear them. Nick Cave was also amazing but I was standing and at the back and being quite short I only really saw his head, which is better than nothing I suppose.
Gonna go and deal with my Christmas cards now!
Bye,Katie x (

October 24 - Katie loves swimming with the sharks
Katie Melua loves to take part in extreme sports. The 24-year-old singer took a brake from her European tour, and chose to spend time swimming with sharks. "It was non-stop craziness - including two days of diving," British tabloid The Sun quoted her as saying. "The first day was in an aquarium and the second day was in the sea with dangerous sharks off South Africa. "That was cool," she added. Melua recently released her new album The Katie Melua Collection, which also marked the conclusion of her song-writing partnership with mentor Mike Batt. However, he will continue as her manager and label boss. Melua has also started planning her fourth album of original tracks. "Mike is such a huge figure in my work, in some ways I think he will be irreplaceable, but he has to be replaced by something or someone," she said.

October 20 - Katie´s political dream
Singer KATIE MELUA dreamed of becoming a politician as a child - but gave up on the idea when she realised it would probably be "the worst job in the world."
The Closest Thing To Crazy hitmaker spent a lot of her childhood in her native country of Georgia and in Northern Ireland, and she admits that the regions' troubled histories inspired her to take up a career in politics.
But the star soon dropped the idea when she gained a deeper understanding of what the job would entail.
She says, "When I was a child I wanted to be a politician. But then I got some sense and realised it was probably the worst job in the world.
"I grew up in a place where politics really affected our everyday lives, even as kids - Georgia and then Belfast. I remember thinking that if women were in power, none of this (world problems) would be happening. And then you grow up and realise it's not that simple."

October 18 - Exclusive: Free Katie Melua Download!
Some would find the concept of a 24-year-old releasing a ‘best of’ album preposterous. But then Katie Melua isn’t your typical twenty-something. The Gerogian-born, England-based singer racked up her first No. 1 album at the age of 19, and her second a few weeks after turning 21. Add to that that she’s also topped the singles chart and the soon to be released The Katie Melua Collection ceases to seem so absurd.

Is the album a sign she's resting on her laurels? Apparently not. The musician is set to release a new single, Two Bare Feet ,this month and is back on the road touring.

Here, we bring you a sneak preview of her upcoming single and a free exclusive download from The Katie Melua Collection,
The Light of the Magical Moon.

Two Bare Feet and The Katie Melua Collection are released on October 27.

Lyrics:
By The Light Of The Magical Moon

I'm a-gonna dance with my baby
By the light of the magical moon
I'm a-gonna dance with my baby
By the light of the magical moon

As I go along my way
I say hey hey
As I go along my way
I say hey hey

I'm a-gonna talk with the elders
Until all of our hearts that is good
I'll a-barefoot dance with my baby
By the light of the magical moon

When I stay the darkest day
Then we can play
Till that deep and joyous day
Well dance and pray

As I go along my way
I say hey hey
As I go along my way
I say hey hey

Have fun singing everybody!!! Let us know what you think of her new song,

October 17 - Katie Melua Hair Raising Choking Ordeal
Katie Melua wants to follow in the footsteps of Sinead O'Connor and shave her head - because she chokes on her hair during gigs. She was playing a show in Sweden recently when her flowing locks flicked into her mouth and made her gag in the middle of a song. So she plans to hack off all her hair to avoid a repeat of the incident.
Melua, who is due to play a huge show at London's O2 Arena next month, says, "I swallowed a piece of my hair while I was singing a song called Scary Films and couldn't breathe. I had to try and carry on singing while getting the hair out of my mouth without anyone noticing and it wasn't very nice.
"I guess it's an occupational hazard when you have long hair hanging down over your face, but I'm seriously thinking about shaving it all off like Sinead O'Connor."

October 1 - ´I will never marry´
Katie has vowed never to walk down the aisle - because she doesn't believe in marriage. And the Closest Thing To Crazy hitmaker insists that even if she finds a new love, she will never wed. She says, "I don't believe in marriage at all. I think it was invented for money and convenience. I'd like to believe in monogamy. But if I have children I am never going to read them stories about finding Prince Charming because they will grow up feeling disappointed."

Jan 10 2008 Latest blog of Katie
Hi, Happy New Year!!!
My New Year resolutions are the same as last year, stop biting my nails and write blogs more often.
Not doing particularly well with either resolution, but I haven't given up on them yet.
I did a gig last Friday at a masked ball that was part of a play called ‘The Mask of the Red Death’. ‘Punch-drunk’, which is the name of the production company are incredible and are the ones that put on ‘Faust’ early last year.
It’s always exciting and a bit scary playing in front of a crowd that's not expecting you, so I was a little nervous but it went well and playing the set has got me really hungry for the tour this year.
We've started planning it and I'd say that you could expect something a little different. Till next time.
Kx
